- CELTA stands for Certificate of English Language Teaching to (used to be Adults, now is) Speakers of Other Languages.
- It is an initial Teacher Training qualification, so no previous teaching experience is needed; however, we have candidates on most courses with previous teaching experience.
- It is a University of Cambridge ESOL certificate program, and is considered the gold standard of English Language Teaching qualifications. Employers worldwide seek to employ CELTA-certified teachers.

- Maximum Class Size: 12 trainee teachers
Each of our courses is run by two experienced Teacher Trainers who will teach you how to teach English and will:
- Provide you with a range of input sessions every morning on all the knowledge and teaching techniques you will need to be successful on the course
- Provide friendly support and guidance on planning your lessons
- Give individual and group feedback to all trainees
- Offer practical suggestions on your teaching to help you achieve the best grade possible
- Provide you with a St Giles Certificate detailing your key strengths and performance on the course
- Teach you in a small group. Our maximum is 12 trainees but often we have about 6 trainees. This means we can offer really personalised feedback and development.
There are five units of study during your CELTA course, which includes the following units and components:
- Unit 1: Learners and teachers, and the teaching and learning context
- Unit 2: Language analysis and awareness
- Unit 3: Language skills: reading, listening, speaking and writing
- Unit 4: Planning and resources for different contexts
- Unit 5: Developing teaching skills and professionalism
