Resolve Maritime Academy provides a DP training course with a state of the art simulation system that meets the Nautical Institutes standards. We offer the DP Training scheme for Induction and Simulator courses.

The Induction Course also is known as the basic course will be offered for Deck, Engine, and ETO Officers and is predominantly theory-based with guided practical exercises that introduce the trainee to various DP operational modes. The Induction course is a 5-day course, geared to provide more knowledge and information for a maximum of 8 participants.

A trainee who successfully completes the DP Induction course will:

  • Have acquired knowledge of the principles of DP
  • Have acquired a basic understanding of how to set up a DP system
  • Have an understanding of the practical operation of associated equipment, including position reference Systems
  • Be able to recognize the various alarm, warning and information messages
  • Be able to relate the DP installation to the ship system, including (but not limited to) power supply maneuvering facility, available position reference systems, and nature of work
  • Be able to relate DP operations to the existing environmental conditions of wind, sea state, current/tidal stream and vessel movement

The Simulator Course also is known as the advanced DP course is intended for officers, who already have a good grounding in the practice and principles of dynamic positioning through their experiences in class and at sea. The DP Simulator course provides realistic DP-based scenarios for all aspects of DP operations, including alarm recognition and the handling of emergencies. The Simulator course is also a 5-day course, with a maximum of 4 participants.
