This course is a continuation of Advanced Chinese I. It continues to improve and strengthen students’ Chinese skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing of compound and comprehensive contexts. Students will continue to accumulate vast vocabulary and widely cross-cultural knowledge to read original literary and non-literary texts on a wide range of topics. Long and complicated conversations, statements, essays and reports are involved. After completion of this course, students will master about 5000 Chinese characters, be able to effectively elaborate opinions, conduct discussions, presentations or narrations, be able to comprehend complicated contexts and write formal essays and reports. The course is also designed for those who are preparing HSK for Test Level 6 and want to pass the test with high scores.

Prerequisites: have completed Advanced Chinese I, or have passed HSK Test Level 5, or have the Chinese language proficiency equivalent to HSK Text Level 5.

The Confucius Institute at the University of Texas at Dallas

Inaugurated in November 2007, the Confucius Institute at the University of Texas at Dallas is a non-profit public educational institution. Its mission is to teach Chinese language and culture, support Chinese language instruction in local schools, train Chinese language teachers, and promote academic research on China.
