Security Guard - SORA

NJ SORA Course (Security Officers Registration Act)

1st time applicants

Before taking the course, students need to register first with the NJ State Police on their website.The registrant will receive a 30 day temporary ID number. Within that time frame, the student will need to take the 24 hour SORA class, as well have their finger prints done. After the aforementioned steps have been completed within the 30 day time frame, the student will receive their SORA card in the mail from the NJ State Police within 10 business days.

This standardized security officer program will review the following topics:

• Theft Prevention
• Ethics and Professional Conduct
• Report Writing
• NJ Use of Force Policy
• Street Gangs
• First Aid/CPR
• Incident Command Systems
• Cargo Theft
• Suicide Bombs and Vehicle borne improvised explosive devices (VBIED’s)
• Suspicious Letters and Packages
• Security Measures- Prevention and Deterrence
• New Jersey’s Critical Infrastructure Awareness
• Terrorism Awareness
