This course will help you to communicate more easily in English so that people will understand you better.

These pages and recordings provide a practical step-by-step guide to improving English pronunciation.

They are designed to help you pronounce English sounds, words and sentences so that the meaning you intend is clear. The goal is to be understood the first time you say something, and to be confident and proud of the way you speak.

The goal is not to take your personality and ethnicity out of your speech but rather to speak so that people listen to what you say and not how you say it. It will help you to feel more confident about the way you speak English, without forgetting the importance of your home language and culture.

This online e-learning course consists of 61 lessons on every vowel and consonant sound (phonemes) in the English language with recorded dialogues which together illustrate the correct spoken articulation of these sounds. In addition there are 152 exercises covering all the vowels and consonants sounds in the English language. Learning the correct pronunciation of these phonemes (vowels and consonants) is the key to a good, neutral English accent that is understandable to all English speakers.

In each lesson you will be able to practise the sounds of the words and sentences by listening to them on the recordings as you read them on the screen.

You will learn how to say each word on its own and then practise sentences using these words.

The words and sentences gradually become longer and more difficult as you progress through the course.

There is a pause on the recording after each word and each sentence to give you time to say it out loud and you can stop the recording and go back and listen again.

It is a good idea to practise making the different sounds while you look in the mirror because this will help you to see how to move your mouth, tongue and lips when you make the sounds.

The more time you spend practising, the easier it will be for you to pronounce the words and sentences properly.
