Born on the island of Cyprus in 1969 to diplomat parents, Nicki grew up traveling all over the globe. This instilled in her a wanderlust that eventually led her to India to study yoga in 1991. There she met Sri K Pattabhi Jois (Guruji), and she immediately knew she had found her teacher.
Nicki is an authorized Ashtanga Yoga teacher who began teaching yoga in 1992. Although rooted in Ashtanga Yoga, Nicki’s teaching goes beyond traditional. Her emphasis is on awareness: creating integrity within each pose that can be carried beyond the mat into daily life. She calls yoga a “life support system,” referring to her firm belief that yoga supports us in all the demands of modern life. Her classes combine meditation, asana, pranayama, philosophy, and poetry.
Nicki’s most influential yoga teachers include: Pattabhi Jois, Eddie Modestini, Gabriella Giubilaro, and Tim Miller. Once, Pattabhi Jois said to her, ‘You, yoga many lifetimes.’ This says it all. She is a dedicated practitioner and a creative, inspired teacher.
