Details

This course is designed for all investigators and first responders to enhance their skills of sexual assault crimes. Students will learn about the victim’s possible feelings of self-blame, offender identification, location, and interview/interrogation, which are key elements to an investigation. Students will also be educated on victim/offender relationships, statutory rape cases, substance-facilitated sexual assault, initial response, collection and packaging of various types of physical and biological evidence.

Outline

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:

  • Understand techniques of interviewing the victim
  • Apply consent and search warrant protocols
  • Work with SANE/SARC personnel
  • Prepare for a trial
