This course will teach students the uses and limitations of bloodstain patterns as they relate to violent crime analysis. Lessons include comprehensive laboratory exercises in our dedicated blood spatter rooms and a workbook with relevant questions
related to their findings.
Outline
Upon completion of the course students should be able to:
- Describe presumptive testing techniques for blood spatter
- Test falling distances, surface textures, and drop volume with real blood
- Use stain measurements and impact stains to locate the position where the blood originated
- Identify blood in motion, swipes, wipes, transfers, and drip trails
- Document, collect and package blood evidence
