Who should take the HAZMAT Shipping course?
It is required training for any employee who:
- ships or receives hazardous materials
- prepares hazardous materials for transportation
- marks and labels containers
- completes shipping documents
- selects packaging
- loads or unloads shipments of hazardous materials.

The DOT HAZMAT Shipping course covers the following topics:
- An Introduction to the US Dept. of Transportation's Shipping Regulations
- The Hazardous Materials Table
- Shipping Papers and Documentation
- Labels and Markings
- Placarding Requirements
- Packaging Requirements
- Shipping by Highway
- Shipping by Air
- Shipping by Rail (upon request)
- Shipping by Vessel (upon request)
And:
HAZMAT Security Awareness Training as required by the US Department of Transportation.
Participants will be tested on course material as required in the 49 CFR 172 702.
After completing the training, participants will receive a certificate and wallet card indicating successful training in DOT Hazardous Materials, General Awareness, Familiarization and General Safety Training in accordance with 49 CFR 100-185.
Each participant will also receive a certificate showing successful completion of the DOT's Security Awareness Training in accordance with 49 CFR 172 700-704.
The DOT HAZMAT Shipping training is required to be refreshed every 3 years to maintain certification.
