This webinar will examine the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics, its functions and utility for resolving ethical dilemmas and issues;. There will be discussion of when ethics and laws are congruent and when they conflict
with one another. A model for systematically examining ethical concerns and steps for making ethical decisions will be presented. The model is founded on tracking the least harmful option to pursue.Ethics cases will be woven throughout the presentation and
applied to the model. The ethical issues that will be addressed are confidentiality, informed consent, dual relationships, boundary violations, and self-determination.

Dr.Linda Cherrey Reeser is the coordinator of the BSW program and a professor in the School of Social Work at Western Michigan University. She primarily teaches social policy and social change and serves as a faculty liaison to
students in their internships. She has published two books, one with Dr. Epstein, entitled Professionalization and Activism in Social Work: The Sixties, the Eighties, and the Future, published by Columbia University Pres s n 1990. The other book was written
with Dr. Robison, and is titled Ethical Decision-Making in Social Work, published by Allyn and Bacon in 2000. She has published numerous articles on professionalism, field education and socialjustices. Dr. Reeser has presented many workshops on ethics both
nationally and internationally. She is an active member of the National Association of Social Works (NASW) and the council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
