About this course
Preparing for the AP Biology exam requires a deep understanding of many different topics in biology as well as an understanding of the AP exam and the types of questions it asks. This course is Part 4 of our XSeries: Preparing for the AP* Biology Exam and
it is designed to prepare you for the AP Biology exam.
In Part 4, you will learn about ecology, the interactions between organisms, how they depend on each other, how they interact with their environment and how they compete with each other.
As you work through this course, you will find lecture videos taught by expert AP Biology teachers, practice multiple choice questions and free response questions that are similar to what you will encounter on the AP exam and tutorial videos that show you step-by-step
how to solve problems. By the end of the course, you should be ready to take on the AP exam!

Speaker/s
Dr. Reid Whitaker is the Executive Director of the Center for Digital Learning and Scholarship at Rice University as well as the founder and director of STEMscopes™. He began his teaching career with Teach For America. As principal of Port Houston Elementary,
Reid raised the accountability rating to a spot in the top 2% of all HISD schools for student growth. Reid also has experience providing numerous hours of professional development training and coaching to teachers in Houston ISD by being a content specialist
for the district and then as an Associate Director for the Center for Education at Rice University.
Reid received his undergraduate degree in communications from the University of Texas at Austin. He earned his Ph.D. from his alma mater in Educational Administration.
Kara Burrous teaches AP Biology at Stephen F. Austin High School in Fort Bend ISD near Houston. She began her teaching career at Marshall High School in East Texas as a Chemistry and AP Chemistry teacher before moving to the Houston area. She has taught
all levels of Biology and Chemistry over the course of her career and has been the AP Biology teacher for AHS since 2008.
Kara received her BS in Biology from Stephen F. Austin State University and her MS in Science Education from Montana State University.
