Learn to use GIS and Google Maps to investigate how historical migration patterns have impacted toponyms, the geographic distribution of religions, sacred sites, and dialects.  Hands on classroom exercises and ideas tied to the AP Human Geography Course Articulation will be presented.  These lessons will help make abstract textbook curriculum real and relevant and can be applied to your local geography.

 Amy Stalker is an award-winning high school geography teacher in Fleming Island, FL and an advisory board member for the Florida Geographic Alliance.  She is also the Global Bridges Project Coordinator.  The Global Bridges Project is endorsed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.  She has also currently participated in projects with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs International Education and Resource Network (iEARN),  Chris Stevens Youth Network (CSYN) program.
