Outline

Take your photography skills to the next level. The key aim of this course is to guide you to seamlessly control and manipulate the overall look of your images to your liking while gaining speed in shooting, without being held back by the technicalities of the camera. This course focuses on mastering the composition and design of your images and has plenty of fun experimentation and shooting practice of concepts such as high keys, low keys, back light and much more. Students will learn to quickly and efficiently work with and manipulate framing, light effects, focus, depth of field and motion control in order to achieve outstanding images that go beyond the technique control and more into developing a style. Techniques learned in class will be applied to various photo fields such as documentary, landscape and studio-type scenarios.

Course will also include basic editing, weekly assignments, in-class shooting, and review of the work of the masters of photography. This course is highly recommended before moving onto more specialized ones such as portraiture, documentary or studio lighting. Students are expected to already know exposure and be comfortable using their cameras before starting Digital Photography II.

Limited to 15 students.

Requirements: Digital SLR or Point & shoot with manual options (Aperture & Shutter speed control).

Level of Knowledge Assumed: Digital Photography I or equivalent.

Note: should the assigned instructor become suddenly unavailable, we'll allocate a substitute instructor.

To those more advanced, we have challenging photography courses such as Studio Lighting and Portraiture that will make even experienced amateurs stop and think about exactly what they are trying to do when they hit the shutter..

In addition, we host group events, exhibitions and lead group workshops in Union Square and in different neighborhoods of New York City. A wide range of people have taken classes here, and participated in group events, from professionals, to those seeking to become professionals, to those who are looking for a means of moving beyond the 8-6 routine that otherwise traps so many of us.
