The course is open to those who are working in the maritime industry and already have their advanced firefighting certification. The revalidation course provides the necessary skills check to meet the STCW code, table A-VI/3 and satisfies the USCG requirement (46 CFR Part 10) for license upgrade and renewal.

Upon completion of this course, the students will be able to effectively organize fire teams and respond to fires aboard a ship. Identify the components of fixed fire suppressions, and complete the required incident report. The course is limited to those who already have the advanced firefighting certification. Additionally, students will have to sign a declaration form stating that they have completed the required on board continuing training, maintaining at least 1 year sea time (360 days) within the last 5 years.

A course completion certificate will be issued to the student upon successful completion of all course requirements and assessments.

  • A mariner who successfully completes the course will satisfy the Advanced Fire Fighting training revalidation requirements of STCW Code Section A-VI/3 and 46 CFR 11.201(h)(1), and 11.303(d), provided that the mariner has at least 1 year of sea service within the last 5 years.
Task Numbers related to this course are as follows
  • CM/Captain: 16.2A, 16.3A, 17.1A & 17.3A
  • 2ND
  • OICNW: 14.1A to 14.4A
